January Jones is April’s cover girl for the online style site Violet Grey! Shot by Ben Hassett with makeup by Rachel Goodwin, January looks AMAZING and the interview that goes along with the shoot is pretty entertaining. Check out the shoot by clicking on the previews and scroll on for a few quotes from the interview.
Jones and her hair and makeup team, which can often include Chanel celebrity artist, Rachel Goodwin (a collaborator on this cover story), spend weeks before an event, looking at inspirational photos to come up with a persona that matches her dress. “I go in a headspace where I’m portraying something, some emotion,” Jones says. “Red carpets, premieres— they can be really daunting…It’s easier to play a character. It’s healthier mentally.”
On whether gentlemen prefer blondes: “I think gentlemen rarely have a preference but having been a red head and a brunette before, I will say I get more attention being a blond, it must have something to do with light reflection.”
On the best night of her life: “The night my son was born for so many reasons.”
On who should would sleep with, dead or alive: “Paul Newman or Rihanna”
On Jon Hamm: “I think he’s amazing. Very kind and generous, well read, very strong but easily vulnerable, very funny but also dark. My friend.”
On plastic surgery: “Whatever helps a person feel beautiful and confident is fine with me. I personally am afraid of the procedures that involve anesthetic but ask me again in twenty years.”
On fame: “I prefer to remain mysterious and have people MAKE their own judgment calls about me than to always have to EXPLAIN who I am and what I’m about.”
I’ve added the new promotional shoot from Season 7 of “Mad Men” to the gallery in high quality, along with captures from the not-helpful-at-all trailer. Enjoy and check back in just a bit for January’s Violet Grey photo shoot!
January Jones has been cast in The Shuddering. The Mad Men actress will star in director George Ratliff’s supernatural thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It centres around a woman (Jones) who returns to a town where she once experienced bizarre visions. She uses them to get to the bottom of a mystery that stretches back further than she ever imagined.
Production will begin on the film in the summer after Jones wraps the final season of Mad Men. The Shuddering was written by The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia scribe David Coggeshall.
On March 20, January Jones stopped by the 2nd Annual Rebel With A Cause Gala looking very cute in a Topshop dress. This is January’s first event of 2014 and I was so excited that I added a TON of images to the gallery. Over 100 including several high quality can be found by clicking the previews below!
Andrew Niccol has cast and a title for his upcoming directorial project. He’s named the picture Good Kill, and Mad Men‘s January Jones has signed on to star as the wife of a fighter pilot-turned-drone operator. Ethan Hawke — who worked with Niccol in Gattaca and Lord Of War — is playing the pilot, Zoe Kravitz (Divergent) and Jake Abel (The Host) play members of his flight crew, and Bruce Greenwood plays his superior officer. The tension comes from the stress of battling the enemy by drone. He fights the Taliban by remote control for 12 hours a day, then goes home to the suburbs and feuds with his wife and kids for the other 12. He starts to question his mission, asking himself if he is creating more terrorists than he is killing in a war seemingly without end. Niccol wrote the script. The film began shooting at the end of last year in Morocco. Production resumes next month in New Mexico.
Said Voltage’s Foreman: “This film will give the public a glimpse into what they are reading about and seeing on the news every day. This is not just about where war is heading but what is happening around the world right now.” Said Amin: “Andrew’s script is not only extremely well written and full of great characters but it pulls back the curtain on the topical subject of drones and the lives of the people who operate them.”
Jones is filming the final season of Mad Men and recently was seen opposite Ed Harris in Sweetwater. She’s repped by UTA and Mosaic.
Back in November, January was snapped by photographer Ben Hassett for The Violet Files – a part of the site Violet Grey, which according to their About page is a “digital publication which offers a glimpse into the transformative world of beauty through the discerning point of view of storytellers in fashion and film.“. For shoot details – the makeup was done by January’s make-up artist and friend Rachel Goodwin, with styling by Karla Welch, nails by Marisa Carmichael and hair by Giannandrea. I’m thinking March or April for the feature, but I’ll keep you posted. Thanks to Luxxx at TFS for the heads up.
I’ve also created and space for January’s Instagram photos in our gallery. Two different albums – one for photos from January’s Instagram and one for photos of her from other accounts. If January ever shows any objection to her photos being shared outside of her Instagram, these galleries will be taken down. We will always maintain our paparazzi-free stance and our belief that January’s private life (as well as her son’s) are none of our business unless she chooses to share information.
January Jones is 1 of 100 narrators who recorded the script for the upcoming documentary “Unity” by Nation Earth. I imagine she was included because of her work with Oceana (sharks specifically for newer fans), as many of the other narrators were chosen for the work they have done with various activist groups. This has been an long-time in the making project, which even had a KickStarter movement last year in order to finish production so I’m not sure when it was recorded. We do know the release date – March 1st, but you can pre-order a digital download copy now for $8 through Nation Earth. Here is a short summary of the film and it’s purpose, as well as the trailer. – Thanks to January Jones Source.
UNITY picks up where EARTHLINGS left off, except instead of focusing on our relationship with animals, the film explores man’s dualistic relationships with each other. Therefore, the point we wish to make with UNITY is to cast a light on this essential contrast between apathy and empathy. Our principle intention is to indicate to those who see the film that we have all (human, animal or tree) sprung from the same root: that root being the earth.
I’ve finally gotten time to add the missing events (‘Isabel Marant For H&M’ : Photocall At Tennis Club De Paris) from October 2013 to the gallery in HQ, along with adding over 100 HQ from the Emmy’s and the Pre-Emmy Maybelline and “Mad Men” Party. January was joined at the Chloe dinner she hosted by her “Mad Men” co-stars!and
January also did a shoot with her hairstylist Andy LeCompte and makeup artist Rachel Goodwin for The Hollywood Reporter back in November. I’ve added some shots from the shoot and you can watch the behind the scenes video and interview, where they discuss January’s 2013 Met Gala look.
I’ve also added some older captures of January appearing in two music videos – “Love Is Blind” by David Coverdale and the “Bye Bye Birdie” video by the “Mad Men” cast. January looks SO young in the first set!
If you haven’t already noticed, January has joined Instagram! She posted an awesome behind the scenes shot of her getting glam for Vogue Italia!

AMC released a slew of 2014 premiere dates, including the launch date for the first half of the final season of Mad Men and the release month for Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul.
The acclaimed period drama Mad Men will return Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m. The show’s final 14 episodes will be split over two years, a strategy AMC employed with Breaking Bad (which had record ratings for its final batch of episodes last year).
