... as Betty Francis
In the Season 6 premiere, Don launches a new campaign, while Roger receives some unnerving news and Betty welcomes a houseguest.
In the late 1800s, a fanatical religious leader, a renegade Sheriff, and a former prostitute collide in a blood triangle on the rugged plains of the New Mexico Territory.
“Mad Men” also had it’s New York premiere last night at the Crosby Hotel and the cast was in attendance, including our January, who spoke to The Daily Beast about using some of her postpartum emotions to play Betty. I’m not sure if there are any pictures, but I’ll keep checking. Don’t forget that the TimesTalks event is tonight. I’ll have the stream embedded for you guys if you can’t find the links!
Behind the scenes, one of the biggest stories during the hiatus was the mysterious pregnancy of actress January Jones, who plays Don’s wife, Betty Draper. When we last left Betty she was even more miserable than usual, and plotting to move with her partner, Henry Francis, to a home in Rye. Weiner, in all his wisdom, decided to use Jones’s condition to the character’s advantage.
“When we first started shooting this season I was eight months pregnant, and when we ended I had a four-month old, so there was a very big change in my life this season,” says Jones in a chat with The Daily Beast. “It was difficult shifting into that for me, personally, but Matthew is such a genius so he’s always challenging me with harder things to do using my post-partum emotions in the best way. He’s like, ‘You’re going to be really sad and really weird!’ so it was very therapeutic for me.”
Yesterday morning, January along with her “Mad Men” co-stars made an appearance on the “Today Show” to promote the upcoming season and we are happy to be the first to bring you the interview as well as captures, stills and Jan’s arrival. I’ll have the “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” up in just a little bit!

Here a few videos from the PaleyFest Panel for “Mad Men”. The embedded one is a YT fan video and the link does to the Paley Center For Media site, where they have a nice January clip talking about Betty.
January is busy promoting “Mad Men” and she was at the “Mad Men” Premiere Party tonight looking so glamorous in a black Roland Mouret dress and beautiful waves. I absolutely LOVE this look. I’ve added 80 images, including 20 HQ, so go have a look. Edit: I’ve added an additional 90+ images including over 40 in HQ.
January did have a small segment on the “ABC Nightline” clip and I’ll upload the caps and video in the morning, so come on back to have a look.
Yesterday, PaleyFest hosted the “Mad Men” panel for the cast to discuss the show and upcoming season. I got the chance to stream it live yesterday, but my capturing software crapped out so I was unable to capture it yesterday. The good news is that Hulu will post the panel tomorrow and I’ll bring you links to it then! In the meantime, I have added 266 images, including over 60 HQ, of January looking super-cute in her Jenny Packham dressand newly pink highlighted locks! Your next treat is uploading now, so come pack in a few hours to catch a “Seeking Justice” goody you won’t find anywhere else!
She also spoke to Access Hollywood about Xander, while on the red carpet!
January Jones attends the ‘Mad Men’ event at PaleyFest 2012 at Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, Calif. on March 13, 2012 Caption “Mad Men” star and new mom January Jones is loving being a parent.
Access Hollywood caught up with the 34-year-old actress on Tuesday night at “Mad Men’s” PaleyFest 2012 event, where she gushed about baby Xander. ”[He’s] six months today,” she told Access.
January explained that her little guy was at home getting his rest. “He’s in bed already,” she continued. “We didn’t celebrate it. He doesn’t know. I mean, he got some cauliflower with his carrots. I am [enjoying motherhood,]” the actress told Access. “I adore it.” Adding, “[Xander] is awesome.”
January will appear on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on March 19 and the cast of “Mad Men” will appear on “ABC Nightline” tonight, although I’m not sure how much, if at all, January there will be. I’ll record both, so you won’t have to wait for captures and video!
We’ll have scans in a few days, but TV Guide is featuring “Mad Men” on both their website and in print this week. Here is a sneak peek of January’s part and a new cast image which has been added to the gallery.
TV Guide Magazine: Betty was not a happy camper last season, and she and Henry fought bitterly in the finale. What’s next? Weiner: You should look for somebody who is going to try to come to terms with the fact that she’s in a bad marriage. But Betty may always think that what is out there is better than what she has. January Jones (Betty Draper): I don’t know if Betty knows what happiness means. She is not in touch with who she is. Selfishly, I hope Betty stays miserable, angry and complex. It’s more fun to play. Until it starts to rub off on you as a person.
Actress January Jones, who plays Don Draper’s icy ex-wife Betty, said the clothes help the cast develop the characters they play on-screen.
“We come [to the costume closet] before each episode to get fitted, and it just kind of starts the creative process, at least for me, to get to know what I’m doing, and what I’ll be wearing,” Jones said. “Through the course of the different seasons we’ve changed Betty’s silhouette several times, and it’s kind of a big part of the storytelling, whether she’s been, you know, riding horses, or pregnant, or a politician’s wife – or divorced.”
The Drapers’ divorce was a major turning point in the show’s plot. Afterwards, Bryant said she moved Jones’ character away from the cupcake dresses she wore as Don Draper’s wife and into the pencil skirt-wearing politician’s wife when Betty married Henry Francis in season four.
“The big influence for me, for Betty’s character, then was Jackie Kennedy, as opposed to a big influence for me in season one, Grace Kelly,” Bryant said.
Jones told Connelly she has nicknames for her outfits and one of her favorites was a dress she dubbed “sad clown.”
“It was a polka-dot dress, and the episode started out very happy for Betty,” Jones said. “I stayed in the outfit, and was progressively more miserable. The dress got more miserable.”
